An especially congregated meeting was held at The Capital Club of Dubai International Financial Center to discuss the facility and services regarding the Dubai Maritime City and its vast opportunity. The meeting was attended by Ship Owners and high profile personals Khamis Juma Buamin, the Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, Vinod Shah representing the ADANI Group from India, Nikolas Veniamis, the President of Hellenic Shipping Association, Mr. Tahir Lakhani, Chairman and Managing Director of DTA Ship Trading and Robert Murhead, the CEO OF Mur Shipping.
The meeting aimed to promote the mutual co-operation and future endeavors between the parties. Nikolas Venaimis, representing Hellenic Shipping Association also visited the DMC and Drydocks of World Dubai and put forth the proposal of potential collaboration between the two business entities. They also promoted the idea of setting up a joint operation in Dubai and initiating the maritime activities.
Mr. Buamin of DMC and Drydocks also said that the meeting was fruitful and the parties discussed in length the diverse offering of services is on offer at Dubai Maritime City. There was also an onus on the Dubai Maritime Green Initiative which paves the way to the possibility of developing and using green technology for shipping. The meeting further supported the new innovative ‘LNG powered tug’ project which will enable the use of LNG as one of the common fuels for shipping. LNG powered tug is one of the projects developed in collaboration by Rolls-Royce and DNV. This is aimed at setting the starting stone to more meaningful collaboration and partnership in the future. Dubai Maritime City has become one of the leading attractions for global giants for its ease of operation and the convenience that it allows for business and trade relationships. It is one of the largest shipyards in Dubai and is home to a diversified area of operation.
